Atlantic Views Holidays is situated just minutes from the beach at Polzeath. The small village in North Cornwall has associations with the poet laureate, Sir John Betjeman who lived in Trebetherick. It is divided into two parts – the old and the new. Pentire Head, to the west and Highcliffe provide spectacular viewpoints across the wide, sandy beach below. The beach is a renowned surfing destination, so it’s popular with surfers and water sports enthusiasts. With rock pools galore and activities available, it’s a family favourite too. Plus, Polzeath Beach is a nature reserve. So you might just be lucky enough to spot dolphins in the bay and maybe see some puffins whilst you’re here.
Rock, so beloved of the late John Betjeman, who is buried in the quaint church of St. Enodoc which was dug out of the sand dunes 100 years ago, has something for everyone. It is famous for its water sports including sailing, windsurfing and water-skiing.
A short ferry ride across the Camel Estuary from Rock will bring you to the quaint and picturesque harbour town of Padstow. The town is famous for its 'Obby Oss' celebrations on May Day and for the Seafood Restaurant owned by Rick Stein.
A proper Cornish harbour village, Port Isaac is the film location for the fictional village of Portwenn in the TV programme Doc Martin. It also features in box-office hit films Fisherman's Friends, Saving Grace and more and is just a 15-minute drive away.
The narrow streets streets are lined with characterful cottages, winding down through art galleries and craft shops to the harbour below. Michelin-awarded restaurants, Nathan Outlaw's Fish Kitchen and Outlaw's New Road are both in Port Isaac, you can book up to three months ahead if you're planning to treat yourself during your holiday in Cornwall.
